Holy hell!

You've improved vastly since last time I've seen your work.

Keep it up bro =)

Hey!

Nice job, I'm excited to see your next submission for the tournement. I wish you lick sir!

Superb animation btw, it really took my by surprise being the first one done.

Rofl

I wrote a huge review for this and it ended up in the newgrounds rumble... if you feel like reading it, itll probably take some time to find... so i'll just quote it.

"When I first saw the original SMBZ I thought for sure you had reached the pinnicle of sprite animation. I was wrong.

You've repeatedly impressed me with each and every single episode you've made, I applaud you. Your battle scenes were beyond imaginative, your sprites are a good mix between home-made and actual sprites, and you've devised a great world here with them.

The only complaint I have about this episode is a few of the sounds, a lot of foreign sounds to characters were hilarious (9000?!?!), while other ones, such as luigi's scream seemed a little bit much. Also, during the fight scene, the second song seemed very dragged out and watered down, didn't fit the mood as much as I would have liked.

Nevertheless, I'm giving you 10s across the board, this is an incredible spectacle, and I hope you keep it up. I generally only come here to watch this series anymore, and anything bitey releases, which is rare. Please work quickly... *wink*"

I love you

Great and addicting as always...

Ehh...

Dispite the fact I can tell you have put time and effort into what is here, it simply isn't enough to be rated all that high.

Also, 4 hours is nothing, try 4 months or 4 years, that is a lot of time to put into an animation, 4 hours is basically just the blink of an eye in the animation world.

I would say add about another minute or two on and it would definately be worth having in the portal, and would probably be rated fairly high.

One last point, with a trailer you are supposed to get people excited for an upcoming animation, give them an idea of what it's about, get them prepared for what is coming. This is basicaly just a quick action snippet where truth be told it's near impossible to see what is going on. Who is the guy firing the gun? What is he firing at? Why do we care? Should we care?

These are all things that need to be addressed in a trailer. Good luck in your animating future.

Wow

Great job. Although the graphics weren't exactly befitting, the overall message was clear as day. And god can I understand it.

Honestly

You have potential up the wazzu, but you have requested my honest review, and now you shall get it. Brace yourself my friend.

Graphics 3: You know as well as I do that the main focus to this was the crazy stick fighting, however, this was seriously lacking in any kind of pretty scenery, and at the same time a lot of the effects were rather... sub-par. If you want to increase the overall quality of your movies I suggest putting as much times as the objects around your characters as the characters themselves. This is also the sort of battle that would seriously be complimented well by effects, take that into major consideration next time.

Style 7: Sticks are sticks, what can I say, but having once been a stick figure animating jerk bag myself, I can't help but have a soft spot for them. I can tell you though that you have a good way of establishing a clarity in your motion that most people cannot, your fights flow very well, but they lack true impact really, as in I don't really feal any consequences or anything at all really... I'll get to that in a bit.

Sound 5: It was standard, not much to say about it

Violence 7: The fighitng was good, the brawls were interesting, and the choreography for the most part was pretty unique. I think the angle switches that COULD have added to this however, severely hindered it as they didn't seem stategically placed at all... they rubbed off as sort of a "I feel like changing angles here for no real reason at all!". Even so,you pulled it off nicely enough.

Interactivity: I suppose this is as good-a place as any to throw in my comments about writing and character development. Although we followed the main character since Nero 1, nobody really has any kind of feeling toward/about him. He could die at any given time, and nobody would care. The measurement in enemy's power compared to him seem boring because honestly, nobody sees anything more than him being a powerful being that can't lose (which was a fundamental flaw with Xiao, and the same IMO with Killing Spree). When you have one character just wailing on people, it just doesnt do well for the movie as a whole. People need suspense.

Humor 0: Wasn't funny =P

Overall 6: You have a good idea here, but your best bet is to give people more reason to care, rewrite something new, something that people can get attached to, something that people can get involved in. Have plot twists, hell, have an eminent plot! Do that, and mix it with your fine choreography, and you have great, frontpage material.

Ok... so...

There is a lot I can say here, a LOT... and I suppose I will.

Before I start though, I won't bash you for toying with (and succeeding with) stickfigures, because I've been there, not only is it fun, but it's also a tough habit to break (especially if you don't consider it a negative habit).

I will however, tell you that you are wasting lots of time and talent on pivot. It's clear that you can do much better than.. oh say, the majority of "stick animators" out there, and the fact that you've done as well as you have with pivot only goes to show how good you actually are. You have a maddening amount of potential that you won't be able to live up to unless you switch to a more "free" program. Hell, I would even reccomend easytoon over pivot, anything that allows angles and other things of that nature which would increase the quality of your movies 10-fold.

And not to sounds like a hypocritical broken record, but you have skill, and you also have talent. I'm not suggesting that you "stop" animating stick figures, but I definately suggest experimenting with full figure (if you haven't already). I have a good feeling you can do some great things in due time.

Anyway, I rambled on a bit there, my apologies. The movie was good, and I have given it a 4. The action was great, especially considering everything I just went over... there was no story, or at least not one I could follow, but clearly that wasn't the point, so I won't "downgrade" you for it. Another future tip though is to incorporate some story line. Mindless slaughter and fighting is great, but in the end people enjoy being able to identify with a character, they enjoy getting "involved". When a character dies, people shouldn't just shrug and say "oh wellz", they should feel it...

So, overall, nice job. I wish you luck in your future endeavers. You have the potential to do great things, so go do them.

Nicely done

You are really coming along Jev. I'm impressed really. A nicely lengthed composition of shorts you've animated recently... and let me tell you it is well done.

I can't wait to see with what you come out with next. Have a good one.

fearing responds:
